Huntington Beach, CA – – Longtime Orange County business and community leader Greg Haskin will run for Assembly in the 72nd district, he announced today.
“We need more mature, experienced conservatives in the Assembly who have worked in the private sector, understand the economy and are committed to change in Sacramento,” said Haskin.
Haskin laid out his priorities as being economic growth and job creation, tax reduction and public safety.
“Few state legislators have any experience in the private sector, which is one of the reasons why they fail to understand the harm they are doing to our economy every time they pile on a new regulation or raise fees and taxes,” said Haskin.
Scott Baugh, former Assembly Republican Leader and former Chairman of the Orange County Republican Party, will serve as Chairman for Greg Haskin’s campaign.
“With Democrats in Washington and Sacramento targeting Orange County districts, we need to make sure we are putting forth the best candidates in every district,” said Baugh. “With his experience, maturity and approach to problem-solving, Greg is the best candidate for AD 72.”
Haskin is Sr. Director of Government Affairs for PepsiCo and past President of the California/Nevada Beverage Association. He is a board member for Plastics Recycling Corporation of California, Cal Retailers, Keep California Beautiful, and the USC Unruh Ambassadors mentor program.
Prior to joining PepsiCo, Greg served as a top advisor to former United States Congressman Chris Cox and as Executive Director of the Republican Party of Orange County.
Greg holds a Doctorate in Public Policy from USC. He has been married for 34 years to Carrie, an elementary school principal. They have two adult children.
